When in Rome…

When in the Khasi Hills, you have a Khasi-style menu:

  • Pumpkin and soya soup on top of red rice
  • Boiled green beans
  • Mashed potatoes with powdered milk, Amul butter, and salt
  • Rolls with canned cranberry sauce, graciously sent by First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh
  • Not the canned cream corn, because it’s gross and not fit for human consumption
  • Instant chocolate pudding made with sweetened condensed milk

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

(Also, everyone we know over here in India is fine. Mumbai is across the country, and Meghalaya has been safe from separatist and terrorist attacks for many years; it’s quiet here. We’re all deeply grieved for the victims of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, and praying for those who have been injured or lost loved ones. Thank you to everyone back home who has sent their concerns!)
